Accessing the Internet
In order to access content providers who use GISTware, you must have access to the Internet.

If you are accessing the Internet directly through an Internet Service Provider ("ISP") via a dial-up modem or other means (cable, DSL line, etc.), and you have access to other Internet sites, but have difficulty accessing a GISTware supported site, please contact us at staff@gistware.com or call 1-310-376-3888. Otherwise, please contact your ISP.

Many of our users gain access through the Internet gateway provided as part of their employer's computer network, sometimes referred to as an "intranet." This access typically operates via a proxy server and firewall, and sometimes access is restricted based on job function or sites which can be visited. If you experience access difficulties via a corporate network, please check first with your network administrator to make sure you are authorized access and your network is correctly working for you (i.e., if you can access most other Internet sites). If access to other sites is working, and your network administrator cannot identify any difficulties, please contact us for further assistance.

Certain web browser settings can also cause difficulty with GISTware and other Internet sites which use instructive error messages. For example, the default setting in Microsoft Internet Explorer, Version 5 and higher, "Show friendly http error messages" will prevent intended error messages from reaching you. If you cannot complete your registration, or are having other problems using web forms, this could be your problem. See below for how to turn off this pernicious feature.

If you are not yet very experienced in using web browsers, please have a look at the tips we provide for particular browsers. If you have needs which our help documents do not address, please contact us (staff@gistware.com or call 1-310-376-3888).
